Game Overview
Polynomial PickUp is a visual pattern recognition and algebra game where players must identify polynomial functions from their graphs.
The Playing Field
The game displays a coordinate plane from x = −10 to x = 10 and y = −10 to y = 10. Polynomial graphs are drawn in different colors and layered on top of each other.
Understanding Layers
Key concept: Graphs drawn later appear on top. When a color line is uninterrupted, that graph is accessible. If a graph's color is "broken" or covered by another color, it's underneath and cannot be picked yet.
Difficulty Levels
- Level 1: 25 polynomials per round, up to degree 2 (quadratics)
- Level 2: 35 polynomials per round, up to degree 4
- Level 3: 45 polynomials per round, up to degree 6
- Level 4: 55 polynomials per round, up to degree 8
Polynomial Forms
The menu shows polynomials in two forms:
- General form: y = ax^n + bx^(n-1) + ... + c
- Factored form: y = a(x - r₁)(x - r₂)... (for some polynomials)
Scoring
Each correct identification earns 1 point. The player with the most points after 3 rounds wins!
